The Surfer
audience Reviews
, 46% Audience Score- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsThis is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Really has nothing to do with surfing. I feel bad for parents that took their children in to a movie like this thinking it was about surfing! When I saw it a number of them left the theatre and the rest of us that stayed hoping for a miracle all walked out and agreed it was the worse movie we had ever seen. Pure violence and no real plot. Very sad Nicholas Cage is reduced to these types of movies now. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsThis movie was maddening. Only so much bad things can happen to a person and only so many wrong decisions can be made before it is just dumb. So many bad things happened to Nic Cage in this one that you just have a suspend reality while it contradicted earlier events. This just confirms to me what I have thought. Nicholas Cage doesn’t turn down a script. I gave it two stars because it TRIED a feeble attempt at the end to make things better and the setting was pretty. But, overall not good.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsAlgo meio irrelevante no cenário atual mas o ator tem seu mérito.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThe greatest 1 hour and 43 minutes of solving mysteries. Rated R for Some Violence, Drug Content, Sexual Material, Language and Suicide!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsI like Nicolas Cage but this one is a yawner. Wait until to watch it at home when it’s nap time.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsWhat a load of poo. Lousy script, poor photography, awful acting and claiming that its the coming of men, get lost. If you want to make B rated movie this is the perfect template
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsThis has to be the worst film I have ever seen, in fact my friend and I both walked out half way through as did lots of others. First time in my life I've not stuck it out, that's how bad it was.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsA criminally underrated movie & performance by Nic Cage; it seems to have gone over most viewers' heads. It commits fully into prioritizing one's ultimate nostalgia-fueled goals, indulging a "worst case scenario bad trip" if need be, sacrificing oneself to risk a complete spiral downwards towards rock-bottom, forecasting what the actual bottom would look like and having the courage to build oneself up from there. Simulating a sense of psychotic, paranoid, generalized anxiety, Cage forces the audience to continually question their sanity, alongside 'the surfer'. The movie closes out on a cathartic high note that fully requites the surfer's and the audience's shared "suffering". All-in-all a very interesting, unique and refreshing movie that stands out among most others. Those who were stuck with the feeling that "this movie was weird" missed the point entirely - it was clearly meant to be strange, unsettling and uncomfortable.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsThe Surfer is a tale of man chasing his past that has long since gone. It's classic Nicolas Cage material and Cage shows he's most comfortable with characters that are breaking, fracturing and eccentric. This is a multi-layered film that will have you theorizing on the way out of the theater but the entertainment stays consistent with a black comedy tone that denotes Cage's best work. Lorcan Finnegan keeps a great balance at keeping you guessing at where the real threat is coming from. The only thing missing from The Surfer? Surfing. Maybe this was intentional.... Good movie.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsTHE worst movie an ever saw, want my money back… weird, disgusting jet very boring.
