The Surrender
audience Reviews
, 53% Audience Score- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsCool premise, great suspense (up to a point) and supreme acting. Sadly the third act got swept away in a tiresome mudstream of random horror tropes and hamfisted clichés.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsA grieving mother and daughter hire a mysterious man to resurrect the family’s patriarch. The bizarre ritual goes terribly wrong as both women end up being trapped in a realm dominated by malevolent supernatural forces. They have one last chance to reconcile their differences and heal their traumatic relationship. "The Surrender" is a gruesome examination of how two characters process their grief over the death of a beloved one as they take extreme measures to reverse their loss. Set in a single location, the movie leverages its full potential with its tense atmosphere and strong performances.
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsReally slow buildup for minimal effect, unfulfilling movie to say the least
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsWhen dad dies, mom and sister let a strange shaman kinda dude come to raise the dead. It's creepy and great until the last 15 or so minutes when the sinister disappears and the ending leaves you hanging.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsPointless, unfulfilling movie.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsOutstanding directorial debut!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsA very well acted movie with a great director behind the scenes. The story was something we've seen done many times over and it could've been better. Tim Treakle
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsGoes to show the idiocy of a world void of the belief in God. The movie was ludicrous but appropriate ín these times of apostasy. I'm glad I didn't pay to see this.
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsCan’t believe this got 85% Fresh. I’ve never been so annoyed and irritated from watching a movie.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsGripping, suspenseful, at times truly terrifying -- yet perfectly balanced with grounded human emotion and relatable character drama. I never knew where the story was going, and it ended in such a surprising yet satisfying way. A gutsy debut!
