The Survivalist
audience Reviews
, 66% Audience Score- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars1 hour and 44 minutes of mystery-solving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsIt’s so typical of Irish made movies- they carry this air of depression that gets you a nomination but not an award. Some good camera and the male lead has a good presence but I can’t finish it.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsso where does he get a haircut. thats just pathetic and offputting for a movie, couldnt get past the first 15 minutes. he struggles for light?? but then can shave a mullet in the mirror? how fukn stupid
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsthis is probably one of the only times i've enjoyed a film with mia goth in it. it's quite slow and might not interest some viewers, and i do think nudity didn't need to be so present of the film. still, it's an interesting story, told in a somewhat unique way and with basically no exposition. without reading a synopsis, the only real sign that this was post apocalyptic instead of just rural is the jewelry being refused for trade.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsThe flashbacks were done well weaving the theme of survivalism and the acting carried the writing. The script was the problem for me. I found some of the lines were clunky and forced especially when it came to exposition lines. I found the soundtrack at odds with the atmosphere of an apocalyptic world. It didn't enhance the atmosphere at all. Still watched it until the end
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsA gripping drama that unfolds in the claustrophobic confines of a ramshackle wooden shack nestled in the desolate backwoods of Ireland. Set against a backdrop of a post-apocalyptic—a world starved of essential resources—this film masterfully conjures a palpable sense of desperation at the edge of humanity.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsHorror is short for horrible here.. slowest movie ever. Annoyingly so. Beginning showed some promise. Exaggerated use of nudity here, unnecessary. Stayed til the end cause invested time already. So not worth it.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsMia Goth is great on screen. The movie itself is deliberately slow, and that fits the world in which the story is told. However it feels too slow to me and it drags on for too long.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsAlthough this movie is kind of passive, i liked the artistic content that draws an explicit and hidden reality: the female behavior in extreme situations, depending on women age.
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsA fine post-apocalyptic story. The acting was decent given that they might as well have been using pantomime. One of the reasons writers have characters talk to each other is so we can understand their relationships more deeply. Also so we can understand what drives them more deeply. Dialogue isn't trite, BAD dialogue is. Just a thought.
