The Wee Man
audience Reviews
, 44% Audience Score- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsGANGSTER/THE WEE MAN really isn't as bad as the Stinkin' Veggies rating. However, I did have two difficulties watching it: 1) It's nothing new or unique [but that doesn't make it worthy of such a low rating]; and, 2) being an American and being familiar with only American English, I unfortunately had real difficulty following the story because the heavy accents were almost an impossibility and the captions synchronization with the dialogue was off by at least two sentences. C'est la vie...too bad...
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsI really don't know why this is so slated ? Paul (the film revolves around him) is brilliant the plot is real true story and it flows and embed well . Sort of Kay twins type story but it shows the violence double crosses loyalty and death very well in the true Grimaldi world Hardest part is the proper Scot's accents reckon I could fit in now with my new understanding of heavy accent lol It's worth a watch it's 4.5 stars on Amazon and that might be a tad high but it is not in anyway a movie like some of the comments made It's
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsreally enjoyed this story. Paul ferries is one of my favorite stories. thoroughly enjoyed this 8/10
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsAnother self-loving ode to the British gangster past-time which seems to try and preach to us that there is honour in what these guys do when in reality it's just another evening for me wasted sitting through this drivel.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsThe fact it's based on a true story makes it more watchable. Worth a look if your not infuriated by a Scottish accent ð??? nice to watch something slightly more realistic and not so slick and sexy.
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsPaul "The Wee Man" Ferris, was brought up on Glasgow's notorious Black Hill estate suburb in the 1960s. As a young man Ferris starts out working for two rival gang bosses, The Godfather and The Snake, but after a brutal betrayal he decides to go it alone. Carving out a dangerous and bloody career defined by violence, corruption and murder, Paul 'The Wee Man' Ferris ends up becoming the most feared man in Glasgow... "The Wee Man" is a crime drama based on the life of Scottish gangster Paul Ferris, hardly something new in the cinematic world. Everything feels too familiar, and the acting from most involved is not really convincing in my opinion. The film feels like it has been made with "Gangsterfilms for Dummies" on the table and the effort to feel authentic fails in my mind. There´s been negative comments on the Glasgow accents, which is something I can´t comment on as I´m not from Scotland. The fact that Paul Ferris was a gangster is a bit toned down and he is portrayed as a rather ok bloke trying to become a family man despite quite ugly violent acts. It feels unbalanced and Ferris ends up all the time being "set up" by the cops and his rivals and no shadow seems to hang over himself. It´s full of clichés and I can´t find anything I really liked with this "based on a true story" crime drama.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsA clichéd, wearily familiar true-life crime drama clearly made on the cheap.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsNot sure enjoyable is the right word, but I thought it was good!
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsBrutal in parts, but totally basic. Well acted by Compston but some of the supporting cast deliver their lines terribly. The film is fine but I'm also a bit frustrated that anybody should promote the life of someone like Paul Ferris, as though he's some kind of legend
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsInteresting good movie...
