- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsWriting, animation, voice acting and story, The Wild Robot has it all. An emotional family friendly movie and very rewatchable. Cried more than once.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThe Wild Robot stands out from other animated movies by blending breathtaking visuals with a deeply emotional story. Unlike typical kids’ films, it takes its time, letting nature and relationships unfold naturally. Roz, a stranded robot, learns to survive, care for a gosling, and connect with the wild animals around her. I put it on for my kids, but within just five minutes, I was already emotionally hooked. The attention to detail—realistic seasons, lifelike animal behavior, and Roz’s evolving personality—makes the world feel alive. Instead of over-the-top action, it focuses on quiet, meaningful moments that stick with you. With its powerful message about kindness, adaptation, and nature, this is a must-watch for families!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThe Wild Robot is a great film. I have to give this movie credit; despite being a family film, this is the first one that I've ever seen where it is more so a movie for the parents rather than their kids. While it is a fun time for your children, this movie has a very simple premise that balloons into a beautiful introspective of what it is like to be a parent. Also, as quick note, this movie loves to play with the theme of mortality and death, ideas that most family films try to stray away from. Cudos to the writers for diving into it! This film has some of the coolest animation that I've seen since "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish". Everything has a finish that emulates strokes of a matte paint. This movie almost looks like an animated impressionist painting (which happens to be my favorite style). With this stylistic touch, it succeeds where Disney's "Wish" failed. I feel that this style benefits the setting of the film where it needs to portray a lot of nature, while giving it enough variety and depth that it isn't just a lot of green. Lupita Nyong'o plays the main character, Roz, and delivers a much more nuanced performance that I was expecting. While playing a robot, you really get to see her evolve and see how her behaviors change as she progresses through her character's arc. The same can be said about Pedro Pascal's Fink, a red fox who serves as the main supporting character. Having no friends, and living a solitary life, you get to see him transform from a typical fox (sly trickster stereotype) into a caring and reliable friend as time progresses. Along the way, Roz encounters an orphaned gosling whom she is reluctantly convinced to raise. The main plot of this movie is all about Roz, with the help of Fink, to raise this goose to be a self-sustaining, independent member of the island's population so that he can successfully migrate come Winter. Do you see the parallels? I was initially worried that this movie would be a bit of a slog to get through, with the whole raising a child business, but it is paced very well, and I never felt a loss of interest in the story because of how effectively it is being told. I am honestly very impressed with DreamWorks. Every now and again, they deliver true cinematic art, and this is no exception. 5 out of 5.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsMy favourite film as for now. I literally cried for a half of its duration. It really does touch on various important emotional themes and uses a beautiful animation to convey it all. Seriously, I haven't seen anything animated more beautifully, it looks like a painting (but there are some other wonderfully animated films, too). Of course there is also some Dreamworks style dark humour, tho regular humour is here, too. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you like animation.
