Tijuana Jackson: Purpose Over Prison

There's a certain sort of wisdom that's espoused by this character... It's really funny, but if you're really paying attention, there's some good nuggets in there, too.

The plot, such as it is, is meandering, and the stereotypical humor is been there, done that.

Underneath the foul-mouthed jokes, Tijuana Jackson: Purpose Over Prison has a hopeful message about ex-cons deserving a chance to turn their lives around if they have the motivation to do it. (However, some scenes in the movie do tend to get repetitive.)

Malco's mix of over-the-top swagger with offbeat charm produces some scattered big laughs, yet any deeper emotional connection remains elusive as the sketchy material feels strained at feature length.

Eventually, the fluctuating character traits more or less come together in a clumsy human way, and T.J. becomes someone to root for.

Non-stop language, sweet family love in profane comedy.
