Ignore those reviews from "professional" critics. This is a remarkable film with historical significance. Let me ask you: When is the last time watched a movie that filmed at the actual Auschwitz concentration camp? Never forget.

Despite what the critic say I liked it. Slow to get into but as the story develops it draws you into characters journey. Difficult subject matter but doesn't leave you feeling depressed at the end.

A brilliant film- no sentimentality, instead deeply emotional and realistic performances from the cast. I visited Auschvitz Birkenau in 1998, it was an overwhelming experience. This film shows the camp as the starkly horrific place that it is, but the real focus is the emotional aftermath on the survivors family and their daughter. I felt that Stephen Fry inhabited the character of the Dad completely and his fear was palpable...I found myself holding my breath a lot. Leena Dunham was superlative as the daughter brought up by traumatised parents, who has absorbed that trauma and needed to make sense of it all. Wow. I loved it and it has affected me deeply.

This movie is important. I’m sitting here after watching feeling so absolutely empty and yet so absolutely full. If a movie’s job is to spark emotion and really change perception, this is a masterpiece.

Simply delivered. Sensitive and honest acting. Bravo.

Ignore the news paper “experts”, this is an excellent movie! Slow maybe in todays world, but it conveys with subtle humour the difficult message of how one creates walls to protect oneself from trauma which ultimately keep loved ones away! The cast were superb!

Absolute tear-jerker. The film has a very smooth development. It had a profound effect on my whole family in the cinema, we had been discussing it after for hours.

I really enjoyed this movie. I live in Poland (as a foreigner) and it captured Polish humour, grace and friendship so well. It’s also captured the crazy! It don’t think it handled the subject badly at all. Fry was so balanced in his moments of horror and humour.

The movie is a great representation of an actual dynamic between holocaust survivors and their children. The movie was very moving, every detail well thought and the reactions are not far fetched. Obviously Stephen kills it, and Lena is an amazing supporting actress.
