True to the Game
audience Reviews
, 58% Audience Score- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsgreat plot, haven't read the book yet but very relatable on the street tip. i love how authentic the issues and situations were, could've been a little more high budgeted but other than that it was great! the ending was somewhat confusing, but maybe they'll create a second one!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsStilted dialogue and hardly a unique script, but was entertaining anyway
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsThe movie was worth watching. It had a few sad moments. The end was bitter-sweet. The cast was great.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starscould haVe did way betTEr!! Needed a better director to see the vision the book was goIng in
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsReally Entertaining just like the book can't wait for the next one
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsThis movie was good, but could have been better in regards to editing and musical score. Some of the actors fell short of doing a good job, but it was fairly solid. I dislike comparing movies, but it was like a low talent mash up of 'Carlito's Way' and 'Scarface'. Some of the landscape shots were nice
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsThis movie was different from the book as the characters were changed a bit! The storyline, if you read the book, was different for Gena and Qui! In the book Gena was about the life and in the movie she's going to school! I found it to be a Gangster love story! Two people who grew up in the same neighborhood, one caught in the game and the other, left the game! I think Columbus Short did a great job portraying this character and The actress, Erica Peeples, played a great Gena! I haven't seen her in any other films and would love to see her in more to check out what else she can do! I have to admit I saw the movie twice because I felt like I missed something the first time around and loved it more the second time around! Being an independent film it's great and I hope there will be a part two!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsColumbus short gave a decent performance in this gang related film. Although I was left with quite a few questions at the end; the movie provided action, and drama. It kept my attention but as mentioned, had me asking several unanswered questions. Excelling costumes and styling as well - overall decent movie but not one id rush right away to a theater to see.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsThis movie was a DISGRACE to the book! Nothing like the Terri Woods classic. The book was set in the late 80s early 90s the movie seemed more of a present time. Quadir was of a darker tone. So many wrongs done on behalf of this dope book. I can't believe this was even signed off on.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsI did not read the book prior to seeing this move and that was apparently a pre-requisite. story was disjointed, poorly edited, awkward, non-sensical, and poorly acted universally. How many shootings can happen in front of 50 witnesses without anyone being arrested??? Avoid this movie.
