Brilliantly balanced between the absurdity of the influencer life … authentically rendered … and finding identity. Taylor Scorse has her “star is born” moment in the film as she intuitively takes on three personas. Smaller budget indie film at its best.

An inspirational, good-natured film about a subject matter easy to depict as soulless and artificial. Instead, it’s such a heartfelt exploration of self-discovery in a modern setting that it was one of the more pleasant surprises of the past year.

It's as smart, breezy and sweet as its central character.

The success of the film rests on Scorse, who plays the early comic moments with abandon, yet let’s us see that there’s something more to Tori than being a bubbly online personality.

It respects the act of the influencer, but also knows to put such a mentality in its place, driving home the importance of honouring yourself above the likes and clicks your content may generate.

Under the Influencer will take audiences back to being twenty-five and allow them to feel all the loss, potential, and hope that come with that terrible, beautiful age.

It takes some jarring swings of tone, but “Under the Influencer” is an observant social commentary with a solid central performance by Taylor Joree Scorse.
