A powerful & uplifting story about a nine-year-old boy trying to reunite with his mother! This film demonstrates how love requires sacrifice for the benefit of another. It also addresses the struggles of undocumented immigrants. I highly recommend this film!

Last week I watched this movie in my school and after watching it I felt like I had to give my review. The film successfully evoked genuine emotions, keeping me engaged throughout. However, while I liked the overall movie, the ending left me wanting more closure, especially regarding what happened to Enrique and the aftermath of Carlitos seeing his mom. Despite this drawback, the movie is still worth watching for its emotional depth and compelling story, even though the conclusion could have been better executed.

I crossed through Tijuana when I was 12. The story is so dead on. It'll be hard to get much more original without making this story rated R (all the horrible things you'd see and experience on a crossing)...I'm going to cherish this movie for the rest of my life. It's so special to me.

Imagine you were a nine year old who lives with your grandma in Mexico because your mother is across the border trying to overcome the American Dream. Believing you have someone to stay with you until you're capable of being on your own. Also, your mother who is in the United States believes you are in good hands while living day by day making a decision if she should return home to her loved ones or stay in the United States and get married to achieve a legal status and be able to bring you with her. However ,in the movie Under the same moon does not go that route. Carlitos, nine year old, wakes up one day to his grandma passing away and he makes a life decision of going to find his mother in the US. A hispanic will claim that Eugenio Derbez is considered one of the best hispanic comedians there is to exist . Since I am hispanic myself I agree that he is one of the best hispanic comedian. I love the role he plays in "Under the same Moon". Eugenio and the rest of the cast play good roles. For Eugenio ,The relationship that he grows with Carlitos in the movie is the strength of the movie. He takes care of Carlitos and is very funny. Also, Kate del Castillo and Adrian Alonso have such a good role in the movie. They give a humorous acting but do not go far from understanding the situations trying to be expressed. During the movie Enrique ,Eugenio Derbez, and Carlitos, Adrian Alonso, have a journey to get to Los Angeles and during that journey they found a job as dishwashers. They approached that job thanks to Carlitos way of being. While they worked they were always fighting but it will make you laugh at the things they will say. At the end of the day they will have a deep and heart warming conversation like nothing happened earlier. This situacion expresses the effort of both Enrique and Carlitos wanting to find Rosario regardless of the long distance. They got a job for necessities regardless of Carlitos being just nine years old and Enrique not knowing anything about her but wanting to help Carlitos. This is how they give a humorous acting but do not go far from understanding the situations trying to be expressed. This movie gives me an itchy feeling in my eye because it makes me realize how grateful I should be of being able to have my mom just as far as a room apart and being able to give her a hug or just hear her voice whenever. Instead of just laying in bed and thinking how she is doing while watching over the same moon. Just as Carlitos had done for a few years. This is such a great movie to watch with family members or just a great movie in general because it is an eye opener to what immigrant families go through just to be together when other families have that privilege of having their loved ones as close as a hand away. Under the Same moon has events of shedding tears both because of laughter and because of heart touching moments. The beginning of the movie gives you information to get to know the characters and learn their role in the movie. It gives information to know the struggles of an illegal immigrant but avoids spoiling the movie and holds an urge to stay to continue to watch till the end. Under the same moon shows such a strong relationship between Carlitos and his mother ,Rosario, because regardless that Carlitos had grown with the mentality that was abandoned by both his mother and his father. He is still willing to go find his mother after years of her leaving him. They had contact with each other every Sunday at 10 am through a payphone but It was not the same for none of them. During the movie it is shown how strong their relationship is because within moments of Carlitos grandmothers death and regardless of his mom leaving him at a young age ,he quickly knows what he has to do and risks everything to go find his mother in Los Ángeles. Without telling anyone ,just going with the money he had received from his ninth birthday day and a few of his savings and most of all just being nine years old. Under The Same Moon. Directed by Patricia Riggen, performances by Eugenio Berbez, Kate del Catillo, Adrain Alonso. 2008

We had to watch this in Spanish class and let me just say, it's pretty good for a foreign film. It's about a boy whose mom illegally transferred to the U.S. and tries to get money for her son over here. Sure, the film supports illegal transfer but it has a lot of heart and funny moments, the acting is actually good too. Except the ending…whew that pissed me off, but it did put a smile on my face.

Although La Misma Luna is no masterpiece, it does what it wants to do well. Showcasing the limits of human compassion and desire while also bringing into light some societal issues in the process. With strong leads and a heartfelt ending, La Misma Luna is sure to bring you to tears.

One of my favorite films ever. Very sweet, but it portrays the deal dilemma many immigrant families face. Love it.
