Vesper
audience Reviews
, 59% Audience Score- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsMuch of my rating ties into the originality of the movie, it took some brave risks in telling this story as some of the events could turn viewers off. If you're a sci-fi geek and looking for something a little different, this might be a good movie for you since it has some fresh ideas and decent effects. My main complaint with the movie is that there was too much negativity at the start so you're dealing with a lot of bad stuff, some less-bad stuff, more bad stuff, maybe something good... etc.. They should have shown more of Vesper's biohacking skills or started with something positive rather than dismal.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsVisually striking but less compelling in its storytelling, Vesper offers a rich, immersive world and thoughtful concepts for those willing to invest their attention. The film features some highly creative special effects—both practical and digital—but sadly, the script doesn’t receive the same level of care or inventiveness as the film’s visual design.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsInteresting take on post apocalyptic scenario. Like how the world was dead.. but also not because of all these like fungus and alien plants. Thought the robot and the father were a nice touch. Added to the dynamic and made the movie more entertaining than just watching a kid struggle to survive alone. World building was interesting, but I kind of wish they went into it more. I guess if this was a series it would make more sense. Kind of had a low budget feel but the computer generated scenes look really clean.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsOdd, and I mean, I think I get it, dangers of Man trying to play God, humanity is irredeemable until it isn't, and I agree with both of those themes, I just don't think this was the best way to make those points and it was too boring to make up for it in the end. Also I found the plot twist with Camellia annoying, and I get that it was an integral part of the plot, but honestly I wish the plot had gone an entirely different direction after Camellia and her father crash-landed. I know the movie didn't have the budget for this, but the journey to the Citadel should have started 30-40 minutes in, not 10 minutes before the movie ended.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsI can't remember a more boring and talentless movie
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsMonotonous. This was recommended by streaming service after watching Prospect which is a highly engrossing movie compared to this one. I watched it all the way through but didn't find it to have much redeeming value as a sci-fi. Acting seemed stilted.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsHonestly, I don't know why the rating is so low. The movie is nice visually, the story is strong, and I cannot say anything bad about the acting. It leaves a good aftertaste, even though the movie is a bit depressing.
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsThe movie had a lot of promise, some beautiful moments and an interesting atmosphere. Unfortunately the whole entertainment completely stopped on those moments and stretched way, way too long. There were couple of scenes that felt totally unnecessary, the whole plot could have been told better in almost half the time. Characters made some dumb choices for incomprehensible reasons.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsThe visuals were great and the story was really compelling. I definitely recommend it for sci-fi fans!
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsThe worldbuilding is somehow interesting, the story not so much. Kinda generic these days. I think the world is starting to get tired of fungus-based dystopias
