Vice
audience Reviews
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsI think it's a major hit to any fictionalized biopic to not take itself seriously and this does a great job at that... I found this to be rather boring, and as I'm no expert, I will refer to other critics that reveal this movie does a poor job at accuracy and covering the more important facets of this tale. Points for Bale in this though he was the best part of this movie.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsI truly would like to know how many of the reviews for this movie, in particular the ones not so complimentary, would remain in tact as written and thought of, after both the 2020 and 2024 Presidential Elections. I imagine 95% of them would be very, very, very different. Come on, prove me wrong about this!
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsI kinda enjoyed this film. Although the trailer makes it out to be far more action packed then the final product. It is an interesting insight into the administration of George W. for the eyes of his morality ambiguous V.P. "I want you to be muh V.P.. you muh vice." - G.W Bush
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsChristian Bale delivered yet another truly remarkable performance as Dick Cheney in Vice. I was a bit surprised at this film. It was written and directed by Adam McKay, so my immediate thoughts after finding that out was an Anchorman or Step Brothers kind of comedy film. I like those comedies, but I wouldn't want to see a film about such a serious topic be relegated to a slapstick comedy. I wasn't disappointed. This was a very serious, yet entertaining satirical dark comedy about the most powerful Vice President in United States history. I really liked Vice a lot. I think it is a very good film and I definitely recommend. 87/100
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsLow depth without explinatino of motivation and skimming over historical periods without a payoff. Pretty disappointing.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsBadass. The powers that be at "their best"... just watch this good movie.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsA movie worth watching just for the phenomenal performances — but anyone looking for a nuanced and cohesive satire might have to settle for that.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsWell acted, but very boring
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsWhen a Democratically leaning film lover such as myself recognizes that a movie is being unrealistically hard against a controversial Republican figure, you know there's something amiss. McKay's movie has all the subtlety of a jackhammer and is so busy making Dick Cheney a monster that they don't bother to make him a human. He's basically Michael Myers transported from Haddonfield IL to Washington DC. Bale does a fine impersonation but nothing beyond that. Adams is wasted in a nothing role. And it kills me to say that Carell is actively bad, as if he were in a comedy skit. I would have loved to see a movie that took the time to consider Cheney's assets AND liabilities. But the filmmakers' repulsion toward its subject is so obvious, all credibility is lost.
