Having just watched this magnificently-written and produced thriller, I'm ASTOUNDED that it's only rated around 60%. It just easily took the slot of 'Best film I've ever seen' and I'm still lost in admiration of the script, the plot, the actors et al. Luke Treadaway's an actor I vaguely knew of but he showed what he's made of in this and I'll be looking for his other roles. He was the perfect choice here, and the other actors delivered with equal skill and punch. Great storyline which gently plays out as more background detail is made known and I don't want to say more as it will detract from the sheer skill with which the full story becomes apparent. Ignore the 60%ers, sit back and immerse yourself as I just did. You truly won't be disappointed.

the equivalent of a "lad magazine" movie in movie form; funny bro lads and a luminous Kirby and typically good Spall
  • Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
A really good film with some great acting and a clever story, which got better and better as the film progressed. The four lads in the film worked really well together, whilst Timothy Spall had real presence as the detective. I found it difficult to work out some of the dialogue at times, which made it tricky to follow the complicated twists and turns at times, but in the great scheme of things it was a clear, enjoyable and funny story well told in this film.

Well made crime-drama, but its major fault is there's no real characters to like within the film.

A good plot executed well for the screen makes this quite a good watch. Good performances too.

An ok British crime thriller. The 4 leads stay away from cliché characters and the story is interesting. The main character just out of jail sets his mind on revenge.

If it's one genre of film we do better than America made fodder it's this type. Called 'The Rise' in the UK rather than 'Wasteland' neither title is very good. Any film that mentions CSCS cards is a winner. Don't know what they are? Shame on you.

Great banterous humour between the awesome cast. Visually impressive and quite smart but it's nothing to blow your socks off. But it doesn't try hard to, it's there to make you think, laugh and cheer. It's does it's job well.
