Weekend in Taipei

While no single contribution elevates “Weekend” above a disposable-entertainment level, all lend a confident surface shine that makes routine material seem better than it is -- at least for the length of time you’re watching it.

After all the stunts and chases and bloodshed, "Weekend in Taipei" is all about a wholesome sense of #family. Then again, you might forget what the movie was about as soon as it ends.

Weekend in Taipei has a mashup of action movie clichés and some cornball comedy. It's a lackluster and stiffly acted story about an American law agent who goes to Taipei and gets involved in the problems of his ex-lover and her corrupt husband.

Another slick B movie from Luc Besson's action factory, this one is all surface and no surprises, but it's lean and crisp and has a pleasant lightness that makes it appealing.

The film is fast-paced, confident in its own skin, often very funny, and aims to entertain its audience above all else. Just sit back and enjoy one hell of a ride.
