Some secrets you keep will paralyze you. Verified Purchase A touching and often funny deep dive into the lives of a group of people with barely the resources to survive being homeless in Los Angeles. Two wheel-chair friends decide to pair up and share the burdens of their mental, emotional, and physical pain, limitations, and suffering. Finding comfort in anything they can reach for from their chairs, they do all they can to stave off an impending knowledge that they simply do not fit in society, and the sooner they come to terms with that, the sooner society can be finally rid of them. Once their greatest fears are met full on, we see the beauty and frailty in life they had so long ago lost faith in.

High ratings are fake, probably given by the people who made this very movie. It was mediocre at best. It was mostly boring and not very well acted. The twists were cheap and the atmosphere was dull.

First film of 2018 for me and apparently, I went out with a bang! Done in 2014, but found radars and physical releases in 2017. Donavon Warren wrote, co-directed and acts in this film. It's about a man that's bound to the chair. He has a hard time coping and tries to kill himself several times. His childhood was harsh with a sick mother and a drunk father and he is left alone in the world now. That's until he finds Drake, another man in the chair, hanging around dirty clubs, spending his money on booze, drugs and prostitutes. They bond. Mickey only wants one last day and he get's into a lot of stuff he has never been involved in before. He has one heck of a night and it turns to more nights. There are up's and downs as we follow this couple on their negative adventure. There are many turns and twists, action and sad scenes. There's plenty of dark black humor and this is a ride that never let you down a minute. Fantastic characters here, Drake is a character for the books. The two leads deliver well and this super dark film is a rollercoaster ride that you rearly see. It's pretty underground and never got the praise it deserved. I found almost no downsides here. The music is here, the production, the acting, the story - it's all very solid. It has great props and stuff that glues it all togheter very well. It's a very dark film and is bound to stick with me for a long time. There is one turn I don't dig - at least I think so, but in total it's a near perfect film for me that ticks many of my boxes. It will probably be one of the top ten-list for me this year, possibly even top five. Not a bad start to the new year! 9 out of 10 bricks.

This is hands down one of the best movies i've seen this year; independent or otherwise. Its high production quality ALMOST matches that of a big budget drama. Let me explain...the acting is superb and the cinematography is incredible. Absolutely a must see!!!!!

I saw this movie at a free screening last week not knowing what to expect, and I have to say it certainly surprised me. The story was well written and the direction was very well executed. The acting was great overall. The actors portraying the 2 main characters were simply superb and both worked together wonderfully. You could really feel their friendship connect and grow stronger throughout the film, not just because of their similar disabilities but more on the level of the pain and suffering both physically and mentally which they both have fallen victims to throughout their lives. "Wheels" certainly played with my emotions. Whether it be from its originally recorded soundtrack which was extremely well executed throughout the film, it had me in a state of indignation, it had me laughing and crying and that overall feeling of anticipation which few films are able to accomplish. Overall I thoroughly recommend checking this film out. Especially considering well written films which have true meaning are few and far between nowadays.

I didn't know what to expect when I saw "Wheels," the first of what I hope will be many more films by writer/director/star Donavon Thomas, but I was blown away by the quality of this film. Not only was it beautifully shot - better than a lot of big budget movies I've seen this year - but it also had an intriguing and compelling story, and characters that you care about and pull for from beginning to end. The fact that they made this incredible and moving film with apparently very little financing, is truly remarkable. It's a must-see!

A truly Los Angeles experience about two men in search of themselves whilst being in wheelchairs though that is not their real handicap. A unique film, I have never seen anything quite like it.

This is the kind of movie where you try to recapture it when the credits roll. Two suicidal parapalegics; One with a memory problem and the other is a consistent liar lowlife. Somehow they have made it work for this wonderfully awesome super indie film that reaches out to everyone who feels pain and loneliness.
