boring. no acting. Just a bunch of women sitting in a barn talking.......

Don’t waste your time. Good cast wasted on very little plot. Sarah Polley is as disappointing a director as she is an actor. The entire movie is about a conversation in a barn that should only require 15 min screen time, instead it’s stretched out over the entire film. The fake, CGI view of farmland looking out from the barn was obvious and unnecessary. It should have been easy enough to film an actual view of farmland. Ben Wishaw’s character was a groveling ninny. I can’t imagine that Rooney Mara’s character would have any romantic notions towards him.

    Brilliant poignant unusual film

a powerful script that focuses on humanizing the issues discussed, rather than providing any definitive answers. my only hesitation here stems from the setting and context where these conversations are occurring. it is interesting that such universal thoughts are so widely available and quickly accepted within such a confined, sheltered community. as a concept, that contrast is very thought-provoking, but as a “historical” depiction these arguments seem to culminate almost too easily.

The performances in this movie are amazing, especially Claire Foy. I was tricked into thinking my queen Frances McDormand would have a bigger role but oh well! I found the movie frustrating because I truly didn't know where the writers were taking it, and I think I would've found any decision to be infuriating. Very timely film.

A thought provoking movie. The discussions about religion, community, safety, what you know, the fear of setting out into the unknown, are all contained within this movie.

An absolutely gorgeous film. So powerful, even in its most raw moments. This was perfectly cast, beautifully shot, and will remain a long-time favorite.
