- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsWhat did I just watch? My 12 yr old who wanted to watch a coming of age story had no idea what the point of this film was. If I could give it negative stars that would be generous.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsIf I could.. would give negative stars The movie lived up to its name... I've been left wondering . Well? No explanations. WHY DID SHE SCREAM OUT MOTHER. Very dark for a pg movie. Nothing redeeming. Did not pull back together I feel sad and confused The half star is for the cow and the scooter.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsThe movie isn't worth watching. Didn't expect much from Rita ora , as I haven't seen her in any other movies. Story didn't make any sense .The actors didn't show any emotion. The movie just seemed very weird .
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsLoved the idea of a secret, magical world. There's something about the idea that there's this other, secret world below ours that's so interesting to me. Like the idea that somewhere or somehow I could just step into a door (or down a well) and be transported--makes me feel like a kid. The modern world in Wonderwell (like the real world) seems so dull compared to the magical one, but at the same time the message was that you can't just run away forever. It's more like that you've got your imagination and all these possibilities, but at the end of the day you've got to come home and take care of your responsibilities. I don't mean that in a bad way.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI love stories about a natural, hidden world below/beside/above ours. It’s as if all these things we’ve built and developed and invented are just cake toppings on top of a real, powerful world. This story is really interesting as well, how like a young girl is going through her personal journey, while also taking us (the audience) through our own journey of discovery. Really quite interesting!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsFeels fresh, but also kinda the classic “light vs. dark” story. It’s like a cool kind of juxtaposition. I like how it’s not super obviously shown, just hinted at and gotten from context. It’s a complicated world! I think Hazel and Yana (the witches) represent this pretty well. Oh and let’s not forget Carrie Fisher’s amazing performance!
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsWish I could have seen it in theaters. We rented Wonderwell and watched it in our living room, but now I'm thinking how cool it would have been to see it in theaters. I mean yes, we rarely go to the movies anymore, but sometimes I miss how immersive it is when you see something on the big screen. I remember seeing Pan's Labyrinth in the theaters years ago (I'm thinking of that cause Wonderwell it kind of similar), and I feel lie that's one reason why that movie stuck with me so much. The visuals in Wonderwell were especially great, but still it would have been cool to see it in theaters. But anyway, the movie is good and meaningful and if you can find it for rental you should go for it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsWatched it with my teen cause they asked. My daughter had heard about Wonderwell from somewhere, so I thought we should give it a chance. It was very fantastic and magical and all that, but in the end it was a cozy watch. I'm so used to movies these days being sequels or prequels or spin-offs or reboots, so I've gotten out of the habit of giving a band new IP a chance. So my daughter loved it (probably since she relates to the main girl), and I enjoyed it, too. It's a little thing, but it helped up bond a bit, like we were talking afterwards about the story and what it all was supposed to mean. Maybe not everything has to be a metaphor, but it's still cool to think.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsWonderwell is a throwback to a different cinematic era. Its format and meaning defy the trends of new Hollywood, suggesting an old-school script written before culture became such a toxic battleground. It’s a metaphorical movie, When I watched the film my first time, I did not realize how deep it is.
