A rather limp, confusing little fantasy that could have been left gathering even more dust on the shelf without anyone needing to know.

[Carrie] Fisher herself is engaging as the mystical witch Hazel, but the rest of Wonderwell doesn't support the magic she brings.

A well-made, thought-provoking fantasy spectacle that is sure to score points among Fisher fans, who will not only enjoy her feisty, straight-talking character but will be reminded of her intrinsic beauty and talent.

Wonderwell is the sort of film that may require a rewatch once you realize what it’s up to – there are definitely some dead spaces that first time around, but as fables go, it’s at least a worthy attempt.

Joins a long line of disappointing final films for otherwise truly gifted actors and actresses who left us far too soon.

Sure, one gets to see Fisher in action again, but the price for such an experience is time spent with a production that doesn’t know what kind of story it wants to tell.
