- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsLet me preface that I love dumb humor for the most part. This one absolutely had as many good laughs and bad jokes. Worth a watch for sure for Leslie fans!
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars“Don't move. I've got a gun. Not here, but I got one.” While the quips are silly most of the time, they are delivered in such an ingenious manner that makes it hard for one not to laugh. Wrongfully Accused also includes a few parodies, most notably of the famous cornfield scene from the similarly-plotted North by Northwest, and the famous “flying” scene from Titanic.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsIt's one of the great mysteries of my movie-going existence how movies so similar can be do drastically different in quality. This movie is basically THE NAKED GUN with a different plot. Same lead actor, same type of over-the-top comedy, often amazingly similar sight gags... So how can THE NAKED GUN be a comic masterpiece while this is often painfully unfunny? I suppose it's all about catching lightning in a bottle. If I were to venture a hypothesis, I think movies like this try too hard to make the jokes work, while movies like the aforementioned NAKED GUN and most certainly AIRPLANE!... well, it just seem to flow like a well-oiled machine. Nielsen is a master at the genre, and the moments that do work here are mostly due to him, although there are scenes where he is trying way too hard. I did catch myself laughing out loud from time to time (a bit involving a muted TV particularly caught my fancy for some reason), but I found myself groaning, or stone faced, for most of the proceedings. Crenna is a wonderful, wonderful actor but he should never be allowed to do this type of movie again. I suppose the one good thing about this movie is that it makes me long to grab my DVD of THE NAKED GUN and watch it for the kajillionth time.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsI wouldn't give Leslie Neilson less than 2 stars but he couldn't save this rip off of his other satirical comedies and minus the genius of the Zuckers and Abraham. Leslie does his usual with the material given but to no avail.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsPlenty of laughs in this Leslie Nielsen film with parodies of films like mission impossible, brave heart and the fugitive. If you're looking for a laugh this is your film.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsSaw this in theaters and now watch it at least six times a year. Any haters don't know true comedy… I'm as sure as that as I am that that's an anaconda.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsThis film is just terrible. It has elements that could be funny just as in Naked Gun or Airplane! but fails miserably with the writing & punchlines. In those films, even the stupid or silly jokes hit home. In "Wrongfully Accused", I couldn't find anything that could inspire a chuckle, much less a laugh. This film really needed Zucker & Abrahams instead of the terrible writers for this movie.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThis was my favourite movie as a kid. Look at any one of the clips on YouTube and you'll see there's a joke almost in every single shot Airplane spoof style. I get older adults thinking its tired but of course when I was 5 years old seeing it for the first time I thought it was fresh even though I probably missed a lot of the jokes. If this movie were released today it'd probably get 80% on Rotten Tomatoes. Perhaps I'll see if it holds up since its almost entirely references, it should fit in with today's culture.
