Films with intersex representation are few and far between, but this could have been better executed.

The movie really captured my imagination. So many issues to deal with for a young woman/man. I liked the movie.

Captivating and heartwarming story that pits courage and acceptance against judgement and ignorance.

"XXY" is a sensitive look at a young hermaphrodite coming into her teenage years, an age of sexual exploration, and how those around her treat her. There's some slight nudity, but, thankfully, this film isn't ruined by sexual gratuity. As for negatives, though, the the conflict between Alvaro and his father was unnecessarily shoehorned in; it would have fit had that scene not come out of the blue.

    Speechless. That is all.

A physiological issue that could have been bungled at birth is evolving more naturally because of very good parental care. Most everyone is sensible and sentitive in the film and we feel the best solution is the simplest one, being adopted by the parents. The teenage turmoils becomes normal and not at all earth shattering. We, as the viewer, can see the resolution appropriate and not disturbing. We are given the gift of life and we should be grateful. Life is much easier when things are done with consent between sensible people. This is the extreme opposite of war.

Recomendable.
