You, Me and Dupree

You, Me and Dupree is a hilarious film featuring Owen Wilson and Kate Hudson, blending various comedic elements. The story revolves around a father and daughter who are welcoming the new son-in-law into their home, only to find that the quirky best friend Dupree, played by Wilson, has also decided to join the fun. While the movie does have its flaws, particularly with some unresolved plot points, it still delivers plenty of laughs. Pretty decent comedy. You really can feel the main characters frustration with Owen Wilson in this movie though making it a little hard to enjoy. But take that away and it's all around a pretty well rounded comedy.

Standard genre, uninventive, blah

It's easy to see that the directors of this movie enjoy creating conflict but do not understand how to bring that conflict to a resolution. I watched this film when it first came out and as a teenage girl- I walked out of the film because there was too much drama. There hasn't only been a movie I had to walk away from that strongly since but there has been movies that I had a hard time watching or gearing up myself to watch. Coincidently, most of those films also tend to be directed by the Russo brothers.

Teetering on the edge of being not so good, this film manages to pull back from the brink, and remains ultimately so good as to be well worth the effort.

You, Me And Dupree has got a very boring story, weak performances, weak dialogue, uninteresting characters, terrible pacing and the humour which this movie's got tries too hard to be funny and it doesn't work at all.
