Bernard Evein
Key New Wave art director who has effectively adapted himself to a wide range of directorial styles; Evein created Claude Chabrol's menacing interiors ("Les Cousins," "A Double Tour," both 1959) as well as the bold, open vistas of Jacques Demy's "Lola" (1961). Other outstanding works include Godard's vivacious color debut "A Woman Is a Woman" (1961) and Louis Malle's melancholic "The Fire Within" (1963).
