Keala Settle

Keala Settle was a celebrated singer, Broadway musical actress, and film actress who was best known for her role as the bearded lady Lettie Lutz in the 2017 Hugh Jackman film "The Greatest Showman." Born and raised in Hawaii, Settle began singing at a very young age. After attending Southern Utah University, she set out on a singing/acting career. Settle moved to New York City and began auditioning for plays. Like all aspiring theater actors in New York, Settle had her sights on Broadway. After spending a number of years struggling in New York, Settle finally made her Broadway debut in 2011 in the musical "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert." Two years later she returned to Broadway as Norma Valverde, a role she originated, in "Hands on a Hardbody." Settle earned widespread praise for her role in the musical, and even earned a Tony nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. After a number of years making a name for herself on Broadway, Settle made her film acting debut by appearing alongside Meryl Streep in the musical comedy "Riki and the Flash" (2015). Two years later she returned to the screen, this time acting alongside Hugh Jackman, in the biographical musical "The Greatest Showman." In the film Settle sung the song "This Is Me," which went on to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song. After the success of "The Greatest Showman," Settle went on to play Cy, Mrs. Davis, and various other characters in a live television broadcast of the celebrated musical "Rent." "Rent: Live" was broadcast on Fox on January 27, 2019.
