MovieTickets.com Announces 16 Additional Exhibitors to Join Growing Roster of Theatres Offering Ticketing Online
Founded by Hollywood.com, AMC Entertainment, National Amusements, Famous Players and CBS, Site Launched Today for Memorial Day Weekend
(Boca Raton, FL - May 25, 2000) – MovieTickets.com, Inc., an online movie ticketing service, announced today it has signed agreements with 16 additional movie theatre companies to offer online movie ticketing for their theatres on MovieTickets.com. This brings the total number of movie theater companies signed to MovieTickets.com to 19. The site launched today in conjunction with the blockbuster moviegoing Memorial Day Weekend.
The announcement was made jointly by founding partners Mitchell Rubenstein, chairman and CEO of Hollywood.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: HOLL), a premier movie and entertainment Web site; Peter Brown, chairman and CEO of AMC Entertainment Inc. (AMEX: AEN), the largest theatrical exhibition company in North America in terms of revenues; Shari E. Redstone, president of National Amusements, one of the preeminent international theatre operators; and John Bailey, president of Famous Players Inc, Canada's top-grossing and fastest-growing theatrical exhibitor.
In addition to online ticketing for AMC Theatres and National Amusements (Showcase Cinemas and Multiplex Cinemas), which launched today on MovieTickets.com, and Famous Players and AMC's Canadian theatres, which plan to launch September 1 on the site in Canada, MovieTickets.com will soon offer ticketing for the following 16 theatre chains and companies: Marcus Theatres, Bainbridge Cinemas, Campbell Plaza Theatres, Inc., Cinema Management Corp., Palace Theatre, Fridley Theatres, Jefferson Theatre Corp., Lake Street Plaza Theatres, Larcon Theatres, Lyric Theatre, Main Street Theatre, Oneonta Twin, Ruble Entertainment, StarNet Cinemas, Starkville Theatres Inc. and Village Theatres, Inc. The site is open to all exhibitors seeking Internet ticketing.
"MovieTickets.com is already proving to be a very successful business even prior to the site's launch," said Mitchell Rubenstein. "Since our announcement to create MovieTickets.com on February 16, the site has attracted 19 movie theatre companies, and the list continues to grow."
The Company recently signed an agreement in principle for CBS to receive a 5% ownership position in MovieTickets.com, Inc. Under terms of the relationship, MovieTickets.com will receive $25 million of CBS advertising across the full range of CBS media properties over a period of five years.
MovieTickets.com is the dedicated Internet site for the online sale of movie tickets, with additional content to assist users with their moviegoing plans.
